São Paulo - The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia joined the Filipino Community in São Paulo’s celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day on 21 June 2026.

In his remarks, Ambassador Patrick John U. Hilado encouraged the Filipino community in São Paulo and across Brazil "to actively strengthen our people-to-people connections" and "work together to nourish the ties that advance our collective interests." He emphasized that these connections serve as the bedrock of the community's resilience and visibility in Brazil, fostering a supportive network that benefits all members while preserving their unique heritage in a foreign land.

The celebration also featured the Munting Mutya ng FILCOM 2026 competition, where young contestants showcased their talent and intelligence through various categories. The event highlighted their cultural pride and confidence, serving as a charming demonstration of Filipino heritage among the youth in the community.

Performances and presentations from various FilCom groups and religious organizations were also among the highlights of the event. Indeed, the celebration is a testament to the Filipino values of friendship, bayanihan, cultural appreciation, and patriotism. END.
