PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR PARTICIPATES AS PANELIST AT THE INSTITUTO ASIA-PACIFICO'S FORUM ON BRAZIL-ASIA DIALOGUE ON INTEGRATION, LOGISTICS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Ambassador Patrick John U. Hilado participated on 22 September 2026 in Brasilia at the Instituto Asia-Pacifico's forum entitled: Brazil-Asia Dialogue on Integration, Logistics, Infrastructure and International Trade.
In his remarks, the Ambassador underscored the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Brazil and ASEAN, noting that the region has become Brazil’s fifth-largest trading partner. He highlighted key areas of collaboration, particularly food security -- where Brazil provides essential agricultural exports -- and energy transition, with a focus on biofuels and sustainable agriculture.
Ambassador Hilado emphasized that infrastructure modernization, especially port development, is crucial to further expanding trade. He pointed to the Philippines’ role in Brazil, through ICTSI’s port investments, as a strong example of cross-Pacific partnership.
Ambassador Hilado also called for deeper technical cooperation, joint investments, and targeted initiatives to strengthen Brazil–ASEAN relations, to ensure long-term, mutually beneficial growth.
