Embassy in Brasilia Hosts Luncheon
Ambassador Eva G. Betita hosted the monthly meeting of Asia-Oceania Group of Ambassadors on 15 January 2013 at the Bahay Pilipino, the Official Residence of the Philippine Ambassador to Brazil. Dr. Renato Galvão Flôres, a Professor at the Graduate School of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro served as the luncheon speaker. FGV is regarded as one of the best economics schools in Brazil and South America.
Dr. Flôres discussed the areas of cooperation that Brazil and Asia-Oceania countries can together work on. The underlying theme of Dr. Flôres’ presentation, entitled “Asia + Oceania + Brazil, Is it a Possible Equation?”, deals with the common experiences of Brazil and countries of Asia-Oceania which are different from the Western world, and how these countries can offer alternative solutions to some of the world’s concerns.
Fourteen (14) Ambassadors and five (5) Charges d’Affaires from countries in Asia and Oceania regions accredited to Brazil attended the said meeting.
