Philippine Embassy and the Filipino Community in Brasilia celebrate National Month

 

On 9 March 2025 the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia and the Filipino Association of Brazil celebrated National Women’s Month with the Filipino Community in Brasilia, anchored on the subtheme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”. Ambassador Joseph Gerard Angeles shared in his opening statement the progress that has been done towards women empowerment and gender equality. He further stressed the existing challenges women face, especially of Filipino women overseas. Third Secretary and Vice Consul Bien Janine Alfaro, the Embassy’s Gender and Development Focal Point Officer, also shared the Philippines’ various policies and programs to empower and protect women’s rights. Some members of the community also shared their stories as an immigrant in Brazil and the challenges they faced living in a different country. The event was organized by the Embassy and the Filipino Association of Brazil. END.
