Filipinos in Guyana meet PH Ambassador, avail of Consular Services
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA: As part of its mandate to deliver outreach services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Brazil provided consular services to Filipinos in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on 23 May 2019 at the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Georgetown.
A total of 11 consular services was rendered, all of them passport renewals.
The Filipinos in Guyana also had an opportunity to meet Ambassador Marichu Mauro who was in Guyana to present her credentials as Non-Resident Philippine Ambassador to Guyanese President David Granger. The accreditation ceremony was held on 22 May 2019 at the Presidential Palace in Georgetown.
At the community gathering held after the Consular Outreach Mission, Ambassador Mauro was warmly received by Philippine Honorary Consul General Manniram Prashad and about 30 members of the Filipino community. Around 100 Filipinos are estimated to live and work in Guyana.
Ambassador Mauro expressed her thanks to Consul General Prashad for looking after the well-being of Filipinos in Guyana and promoting Philippine interests in the country.
Ambassador Mauro also assured everyone present that despite being far away, the Philippine Embassy in Brazil is committed to looking after their interests and welfare.
