Philippine Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) in Latin America (LatAm) gathered together in Brazil to discuss ideas and projects of mutual interest on 15 March 2019 at the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia.
The participants engaged in a frank and open discussion to come up with a comprehensive regional program to present to the Department for their consideration.
Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale and Mr. Emmanuel Garcia (Buenos Aires PE); Charge d’Affaires Marcos A.S. Punsalang (Santiago PE); Consul Maria Carmela Theresa Cabreira and Commercial Counsellor Vichael Angelo Roaring (Mexico PE) descended on the Brazilian capital to join Ambassador Marichu Mauro, Consul General Ariz Convalecer, and Consul Leilani Feliciano of Brasilia PE to convene the first ever Sub-Regional Consultation Meeting for Latin America.
The aim of the consultation meeting is to come up with a consolidated regional program that maximizes the potential that this region offers the Philippines.
With LatAm FSPs being some of the farthest Posts from the Home Office, pursuing projects, especially those that promote culture and economic interests, is very costly. By coming together, the LatAm FSPs hopes to yield a more cost-effective way to promote the Philippines. By devising a comprehensive regional program, the LatAm FSPs will be able to maximize their resources while achieving their promotional goals.
