Philippine Embassy holds outreach services in Rio de Janeiro
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL: As part of its mandate to deliver outreach services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Brazil provided consular services to Filipinos in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, 17 March 2019 at the aptly named South American Copacabana Hotel in the famed Copacabana area of Rio.
A total of 28 services was rendered, 19 of which were passport applications, five notarial services, and four civil registrations.
During the consular outreach, Consular Assistant Mr. Jose Antonio Bea introduced potential Philippine Honorary Consul General to Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Luiz Paulo de Sequeira, to the Filipino community. Mr. Sequeira, a lawyer, is currently processing his application to be the Honorary Consul General in Rio de Janeiro to replace Mr. Romulo Mene who resigned his post last year.
Around 200 Filipinos work and live in Rio de Janeiro city and environs. Given the vast area covered by the Philippine Embassy in Brazil, Honorary Consulates General are very vital in providing consular and assistance services to the Filipino community.
