Honorary Consul General in Manaus calls on PH Ambassador
Ambassador Marichu Mauro received on 21 May 2018 the Honorary Consul General for Manaus, Mr. Francisco Rodrigues Da Silva Filho. Mr. Rodrigues is the longest serving Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Brazil. He has been serving since 1997. Aside from the city of Manaus, he has jurisdiction over the other cities in the State of Amazonas.
Mr. Rodrigues heartily welcomed Ambassador Mauro to Brazil and invited her to visit his state. He discussed with the Ambassador the many programs he has been conducting in Amazonas including organizing visits to the Philippines and assistance rendered to Filipino workers.
Mr. Rodrigues is very active in promoting the Philippines as an investment and tourism destination. The Honorary Consul General has been promoting the Philippines as a country with industrial parks similar to the ones in Amazonas where Samsung, Sony and Honda have manufacturing plants.
Ambassador Mauro commended Mr. Rodrigues for his efforts especially on his work giving assistance to Filipino nationals in his state.
Mr. Rodrigues vowed to continue his work promoting Philippine interests and committed to attending the upcoming retooling seminar for Philippine Honorary Consuls this coming June to further improve his service to the Filipino people and promote Philippine interests in Brazil.
