Philippine Embassy holds the First Philippine Gastronomic Festival in Brasilia
The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, in partnership with the Kannika Restaurant, organized the first Philippine Gastronomic Festival in Brasilia from 30 November to 02 December 2017. The objective of the festival was to promote Philippine cuisine to residents of Brasilia.
The Embassy featured Philippine dishes such as adobo, kare kare, pancit palabok, lumpiang sariwa, lumpiang shanghai, molo soup, brazo de Mercedes, buko pandan and ube ice cream. To create a Philippine ambiance, Philippine Christmas parols, flaglets, posters and sinamay adorned the restaurant and Philippine music was played throughout the event. Tourism materials were also distributed to guests.
The three-day Festival proved to be a success as it attracted not only the media, but also Brasilia residents and the members of the diplomatic community who came to enjoy Philippine food. Some Embassy personnel also interacted with the guests who inquired how the dishes were prepared.
