Phl Embassy in Brasilia Hosts 5th Business Forum Meeting

The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia hosted the 5th Regular Meeting of the Brazil-Philippines Business Cooperation Forum (BPBCF) which also served as the group’s Christmas Party on December 05 at the Official Residence of the Philippine Ambassador in Brasilia, Brazil.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Jose D.R. Burgos informed the attendees that for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 2016, the Philippines grew by 6.8% and 7% respectively, outpacing China. In the 3rd Quarter economic growth of the Philippines was 7.1%, the fastest in Asia.

On the other hand, 2016 saw Brazil plummet to its deepest recession.  However, signs of economic and political stability and normalcy are creating a more positive impression of how Brazil will fare in 2017.

Foreign Trade Secretary William O’Dwyer of the State of Goias informed the BPBCF that Goias Governor Marconi Ferreira Perillo Jr. has chosen February 28 to March 03, 2017 as the schedule of the Brazilian Business Delegation to the Philippines.

The Brazilian Business Delegation will also include Hong Kong and Singapore as other choice destinations with the Philippines as the last leg of their business tour.

Ambassador Burgos also invited the businessmen to participate in Brasilia-Manila Trade Fair and Cultural Festival in early February 2017 where Brazilian and Philippine companies will showcase their range of products and services.
