PHL Embassy in Brasilia Celebrates Women’s Month and Welcomes New PHL Ambassador

In celebration of the 2015 National Women’s Month, the newly-arrived Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Jose D.R. Burgos hosted a seminar on breast cancer awareness for the Filipino community in Brasilia. Majority of attendees of the event were Filipino women in the community, as well as some Brazilian guests.

Dr. Gustavo de Castro Gouveia, a Fellow in General Surgery at the Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal (HBDF) and a Fellow in Surgical Oncology at the Instituto de Câncer de Brasília (ICB) gave a 30-minute presentation about the early detection, evaluation, and treatment of breast cancer.

At the seminar’s conclusion, guests enjoyed dishes prepared by Filipina chef, Remedios Prado of Fiesta Philippines Catering.
